Procedure Description

Tattoo removal delivers ultra-short picosecond laser energy to ink particles in the skin, breaking them into finer fragments that the body can gradually clear through its natural processes. At Sia Clinic Daejeon, PicoSure or Dia Pico is used according to the color and depth of the tattoo. Options range from small areas such as nose-dot and eyebrow tattoos to size-based plans the size of a 500-won coin or a business card (based on black ink), in 1, 3, 5 or 10 sessions. For dense or thickly applied ink, we also offer the Fractat method, in which an Er:YAG laser first creates micro-channels before the picosecond laser is applied. The number of sessions and intervals needed are explained after examination.

Procedure Process

STEP 1.

Consultation and assessment: The size, color and depth of the tattoo are checked to decide the method and sessions.

STEP 2.

Numbing: Numbing cream is applied to the area.

STEP 3.

Fractat pre-treatment (if applicable): An Er:YAG laser creates micro-channels.

STEP 4.

Picosecond laser: PicoSure or Dia Pico is applied to break down the ink.

STEP 5.

Soothing and dressing: The area is soothed, and healing ointment and dressing care are explained.

Precautions

The number of sessions needed depends on ink color, depth and age, and some marks may remain.

Blisters or crusts may form; please do not pop or pick at them.

Avoid saunas, swimming and alcohol for a few days, and protect the area from the sun.

Colored tattoos may respond differently from black ink and are discussed separately during consultation.

When is the Fractat method used?

It is mainly used for dense or thickly applied tattoos. An Er:YAG laser first creates micro-channels in the skin, then a picosecond laser is applied, helping create pathways for ink to clear. Whether it is suitable is decided after examination.

Is the treatment painful?

You may feel a snapping sensation like a rubber band, so numbing cream is applied beforehand. The level of discomfort may vary by area and individual.
